About Kali-Ma Sound:

Kali-Ma Sound was formed in Aarhus, Denmark 2006 where Nero and Fatter J, members of the former reggae sound and promotion crew; Sweet Connection decided to part from the old crew and, along with Sister NattyLove, create the Kali-Ma Sound: A new sound with a more serious focus pon the different aspects of a reggae sound system. Home grown productions, using the mic in the dance as well as building a good box of special tunes were the added spices for the dance; a thing that had rarely been seen in these parts of Denmark before. In 2007, the one and only, selector Franz Yute, former member of the Aarhus sound X-it, joined the Kali-Crew and brought yet another dimension to the sound.

Kali-Ma has been growing rapidly since the beginning. And in March 2007, with the main mission to spread the reggae music to the people of Aarhus, we challenged 5 other local sounds for a soundclash: “The Battle of Aarhus”. In front of a full house Kali-Ma took out Denali Sound in the finals and brought home the trophy.

In October 2007 they were challenged by one of the biggest sounds in Denmark – Universal Sound, who has more than 10 years of experience. Kali-Ma defeated Universal and is thus undefeated in a soundclash. To this day we remain the champion sound of Aarhus.

Since the victory Kali-Ma has been playing at still more clubs and parties around the country, always ready to kick up the dance in an all night session. Recently we started cooperating with the organizer of Raggapak - Silkeborg Reggae Festival. In this teamwork we have so far hosted big international artists such as Cutty Ranks, Ward 21 and latest Dennis Alcapone. We keep on promoting the scene with regular bashments in Aarhus.

Kali-Ma Sound has a rare and energetic style and we put a lot of energy in collecting the music and serving it to the massive. We play everything from heavy dub, roots and rocksteady, old dancehall form the 70's, 80's and 90's to the contemporary dancehall of our time, and we never lose our grip on the crowd.
